MITS ALTAIR 8800 Original Vintage Microcomputer S-100:

The Alair 8800 launched the personal computer revolution. It was sold as a kit by Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems (MITS), a small firm in Albuquerque that had previously specialized in kits for test equipment, calculators, and instruments for model rockets. The Altair 8800 was designed as an expandable system, and its sockets for expansion cards became the basis of the industry-standard S-100 bus. An article in the January 1975 issue of Popular Electronics generated thousands of orders for MITS. Paul Allen and Bill Gates, then students at Harvard University, saw the article and borrowed time on the school\'s PDP-10 minicomputer to develop a 4K BASIC interpreter for the Altair. Shortly thereafter, they dropped out of school and moved to Albuquerque to form a company called Micro-Soft.
CPU: Intel 8080, 8 bit, 2 MHzRAM: 256 bytes (expandable to 64K)Original kit price: $439 (roughly $2500 in today\'s dollars)This unit has the CPU board and one other board I can\'t identify, but no extra memory or I/O boards. There is some evidence of handwired modifications on the CPU board. It does power up, most of the front panel lights come on and the fan starts. I have no software for it, peripherals, or any way to test it. Serial no. 221481K.
I am charging $250 for packing and shipping up front, if it costs less, i will refund the difference. I am not sure how much it will weigh until I have it professionally packed.
Sold as is, no returns.
