A redesigned version of the MITS 88-2SIO Rev 0 Serial I/O Board used in the ALTAIR 8800 and other S-100 computers. This board provides one or two serial ports using the 68B50 ACIA. The 88-2SIOR1 is compatible with a vast amount of Altair software, including CP/M and Altair BASIC.Although this board is completely software compatible with the original MITS 88-2SIO Rev 0 board, there are some hardware differences:
  • RS-232 only. TTL and Current Loop are not supported.
  • Baud rates up to 76.8K. 150 baud is not supported.
  • TXD and RXD status LEDs.
  • Can mirror RTS on DTR pin.
  • Easy configuration with switches, no soldering jumper wires.
  • Compatible with standard IDE-10 to DE9/DB25 ribbon cables.
  • IDE-10 connectors for DTE and DCE signaling.

The faster baud rate is great for file transfers and running the Serial version of CP/M.
This sale is for a fully-assembled board.Images show the 88-2SIOR1 in an ALTAIR 8800c booting CP/M 2.2 and Altair BASIC.
