This is a newly built Commodore 64.
  • New Motherboard based on the 250407 version, newly fabricated in white
  • New passive components (capacitors, resistors, transistors, diodes, etc.)
  • New electrolytic caps
  • All new connectors, Cartridge, A/V, Power, and Serial - only the 9-pin joystick connectors are from an original C64. While new 9-pin connectors are available, the originals are a much better fit.
  • New power switch
  • Original Keyboard, cleaned and working perfectly
  • New transparent C64C-style case
  • All new chips that are currently available - Flip flops, Oscillators, Timers, etc. Also, the PLA chip is a modern replacement
  • Proprietary MOS chips are original, including the6581 SID, 6567R8 VIC-II, CIAs, 6510 CPU, etc.
  • ALL chips have been socketed with gold plated sockets
  • Heatsink added to the VIC-II chip
  • New RF Modulator replacement from American Retro Shop

This unit was built by me from scratch. It is in perfect working condition and has passed the diagnostic cartridge test with no errors. I\'ve loaded some games and programs from my 1571 disk drive (not included) and everything works as it should. The SID sound chip sounds great. Please note that since the original RF modulator has been replaced, this unit will not give RF out, which I don\'t think 99% of today\'s users would want anyway. This means it will not work on your vintage 1980s television.
The case was bought by me several years ago from Pixel Wizard just before they closed down and has been on my shelf unused since it was bought. I don\'t believe this style case is available any more at all so you will probably be getting the last \'new\' one! These cases always had some small imperfections. The serial and A/V connectors are slightly off-center, but not enough to have any problems plugging the DIN connectors into them at all.
This listing is for the main unit only, no power supply or cables are included. I strongly suggest you use a modern power supply and NOT an original, as they tend to break down over time and can damage the custom chips on the board.Please note that this is an NTSC unit (made for North American displays).
