CloudGenix ION 2000 (also marketed as Palo Alto ION 2000 after Palo Alto acquired CloudGenix) is a rebranded Lanner FW-7525D. With CloudGenix firmware, it is sold as an SD-WAN router. We repurposed it into a generalist network router/firewall running OPNsense nano. To test the device and make port functions consistent with on-device labeling, we made a few changes to the initial OPNsense configuration. A detailed configuration note will be provided to the buyer. Alternatively, the buyer could simply reset OPNsense to its initial state.

Full disclosure: the unit has a BIOS password, which we do not know and were not able to remove by the standard techniques (repositioning the reset jumper, temporarily removing the CMOS battery, etc.).

The device runs on an Intel Atom C2558 processor (quad-core, 2.4 GHz, supports AES-NI and QAT) with 4 GB of RAM. The operating system is installed on a 4 GB Compact Flash (CF) card. There are six Gigabit Ethernet ports, two Intel i210 and four Intel i354.

Please note that due to limited storage space, we installed the “nano” version of OPNsense. The “nano” version is designed to work within limited storage space and minimize disk writes to ensure the longevity of the storage device (this way, OPNsense can be installed on CF cards, SD cards, and other media that is sensitive to repeated rewriting).

The device is implemented in a desktop form factor. The case is all metal and very sturdy. The unit is passively cooled and completely silent. Please note that the device tends to run warm (it's passively cooled, and the entire top of the device serves as the processor's heatsink).

The device is in good physical condition (please review the photos; please note that we are listing several devices in succession, so the device pictured may or may not be the device you receive, although the photos are representative of the condition of all devices in the listing). A power supply unit with a threaded coupling (no more accidental unplugging!) is included.
