Very rare Pacific Office Systems S-100 9 Track Tape Interface. This board appears to interface to a 9 track reel to reel tape drive like the old mainframes used. I am not sure of this but in the early 80\'s I interfaced a TRS-80 to a Pertec nine track tape drive for a service bureau and the circuitry looks very similar to the circuit that I designed way back then.
In those days accounting software for a TRS-80 was virtually non-existent. Back in those days they used the TRS-80 with a floppy disk instead of a keypunch. The service bureau customers would write their AR, AP, GL, Payroll data etc... to a floppy disk that theservice bureauwould then transfer to tape to run the job on their Honeywell 200. Those were the magic days of computing.
This vintage board has a test sticker on it that identifies it as being tested in 1982. That makes this board over 40 years old.
