ABOUT: For your consideration is an original pizza box Mac, the Macintosh Centris 660 A/V with its full 68040 CPU and A/V capture circuitry. This unit is offered in as-found condition and has many needs on the road to restoration. This system has been tested to electrically power on, but like requires a complete PSU + motherboard re-cap to be functional again.
Due to the vintage nature of this Mac, it is offered as an enthusiast project, for retro tech enthusiast restoration, with the idea that there will be multiple hurdles to overcome, including floppy drive rebuild and logic board + power supply, re-capping of all the 32 year old electrolytic Original 1993 Macintosh Centris 660AV
• 25mhz FPU-endowed 68040 CPU
• 72-pin RAM SIMM slots are empty
• 1.44mb Superdrive floppy drive installed(untested)
• Apple 300i SCSI CD-ROM installed (untested, no caddy included)
• The bezel in front of the Apple CD-ROM is slightly more tan and obviously from a different Mac (perhaps a PM6100)
• NO hard drive included, original drive sled and SCSI cable are includedNOTE: Macs of this era have DB-15 double row video output for old Mac-specific monitors. You will need a VGA adapter to use this Mac with a modern LCD, readily available on & CONDITION: This Mac is in good cosmetic condition for the age and for the known fragility of this form factor of computer. All 4 fragile feet are installed and did not appear to be plastic-perished or cracked. Both tabs securing the top chassis to the frame are installed, the rear frame case plastics also appear good- overall the Mac presents very well considering the fate of most \"pizza box\" Macs.
This Mac is considered NON-FUNCTIONAL and likely needs repair work/caps done to both motherboard and PSU. The unit was quickly powered on and the PSU turned on the Mac, but the unit does not chime and the PSU fan does not spin This Mac is considered A NON-FUNCTIONAL RESTORATION PROJECT and is being offered to an enthusiast in ASIS condition with no guarantee of longevity. This unit is promised to have frustrating speed bumps and weird quirks during your ownership and an adventurous spirit is advised when delving into classic Macs!
