You are offerding on a Commodore 64 computer (main unit only - no power supply). This is a late model breadbin C64 (board revision 250407) that is in great cosmetic condition. The case and keyboard are both in very good shape with some minor scuffs, dents, and UV yellowing as shown in the pictures. Everything is functioning well. Heat sinks have been installed on the SID, VIC, and PLA chips. The SID is an original and fully tested and working MOS 6581 chip.
Fully Recapped:This machine has been completely recapped, and is ready for years of reliable use. I removed the original electrolytic capacitors and added modern replacements - I use new high-end capacitors in the systems I refurbish. The factory capacitors from these machines are nearly 40 years old in most cases, and can fail without warning. Failing capacitors can cause anything from poor video quality, to glitchy graphics and sound, to total system failure, so recapping is one of the best ways to ensure that your C64 will continue operating correctly for years to come.If you\'re going to spend the money for a \"refurbished\" vintage computer, make sure it has been completely recapped!

During each refurbishment, I take the following steps:
  • Computer is fully disassembled -Case, motherboard, and components are thoroughly cleaned
  • All socketed chips are removed, sockets treated with Deoxit cleaner
  • Sockets installed for any previously unsocketed chips that need to be replaced
  • Fitted aluminum heat sinks applied to chips that need them - PLA, SID, and VIC
  • SID chip tested on all voices and filters - I only sell machines with original MOS SID chips
  • Keyboard is disassembled and cleaned, then reassembled and tested for functionality
  • Computer is tested for several hours using a diagnostic cartridge and full diagnostic harness
  • I spend a few hours playing retro games, and making sure that everything works well - I test with a 1571 floppy, an SD2IEC, and a Backbit cartridge
Power Supplies:Please note that the sale does not include a power supply - you will need to provide one. I highly recommend NOT using original Commodore power supplies as these are prone to failure suddenly and without warning, and regularly lead to frying good machines. I do not ever use or test with original Commodore power supplies, and neither should you! Sellers will tell you about \"tested\" original Commodore power supplies, but due to their age and design flaws they are all ticking time bombs. I highly recommend Keelog power supplies, which you can find with a quick Google search - they are excellent, reliable, and reasonably priced.
