Here is a Power Macintosh 8500/180 from late 1996. It boots from the original 2GB SCSI hard drive and runs Mac OS9.Although the PRAM battery is bad, the system consistently powers on, chimes and gives a display. Someone added an iX Micro Twin Turbo 128M8 PCI graphics card which I have not tried. There is also an ATTO 68-pin Ultra-Wide SCSI card installed but not connected to anything. The original SCSI CD ROM ejects and is recognized on the SCSI bus, but it will not read discs. However, the original floppy drive does read and eject normally.Apple designed this motherboard with 8 DIMM sockets, which can accept up to 1.0GB of RAM. Four DIMMs are currently installed for a total of 160MB: the original two 16MB plus two 64MB DIMMs.The plastic Apple used for this case is very brittle. Unlike most I see, its case is not yellowed or missing any drive bay covers. A few small pieces inside the case have broken off, but the cover and drives fasten normally.I include an Apple ADB Mouse II, but no keyboard or monitor. I also include adapters allowing you to use a PS/2 keyboard, or a serial mouse, and an SVGA monitor from a Windows PC, in case you don't already have an ADB keyboard or DB15 monitor.I am happy to answer any questions about this system before your purchase.
