So I received this Apple IIGS and saw that it was clean on the outside and thought great, let’s get it working. I opened the cover and soon realized that the battery had leaked and thought well that’s that. Then I decided for fun to turn it on and was amazed that it WORKED. I couldn’t believe it. The battery holder needs to be replaced and some corrosion needs to be cleaned up a little with some vinegar but it booted into GS/OS 6.0.1. I ran the Oregon Trail game and it worked, sound and everything. Produced great picture on screen. I guess it really is Apple II Forever!


So anyways that’s the deal. It’s basically a fully functional machine with the exception of the battery holder that needs replacing and some clean up. I’m including a new battery holder if your up to the soldering task of replacing it. I have not fully tested everything but it appears fully functional. It loaded software and test keyboard and mouse worked fine. It had 1067k of RAM.


The sale includes the IIGS computer, a power cord, an 800k ROM03 boot disk on 3.5” floppy along with The Oregon Trail also on 800k floppy. Any other device was used to test the computer and is not a part of this particular sale.


This is sold as-is but appears to be fine. The ROM 03 variant was the rarer of the IIGS’s produced.


Take this opportunity to own a great piece of Apple history.


Everything is always bubble wrapped to an insane degree and a heavy duty box is used with fragile stickers throughout.
