ABOUT: For your consideration is computing \"Genesis\", the original 1984 Macintosh 128K, complete with its original beige keyboard and mouse. This overall clean combo is, as-it-sits an amazing conversation piece for an enthusiast to curate, but this unit goes even further with a super rare LevCo upgrade card, featuring faster 68000 CPU, 2MB RAM, and a SCSI adapter!
This system powers on, but age + the modifications mean that it is unable to boot from a floppy and displays intermittent Sad Macs. This combo is considered \"for restoration or collection\" and is offered as-described for an enthusiast to rebuild or just display.Please remember that, while I am a retro tech enthusiast, I am not an expert on the specifics of any given piece of retro technology. Some small components may be missing that I am not familiar with, so please ask any questions BEFORE offerding. This is a piece of 1984 technology that is incomplete, and offerding on it constitutes an interest to tinker with the understanding of potential unexpected hurdles common to retro tech such as capacitor replacement and floppy drive 1984 Macintosh M0001 128K
• Original motherboard has been modified with LevoCo MonsterMac upgrade card
• Upgrade card features 16mhz 68000 CPU, an assumed 2MB RAM (based on original promotional material)
• An additional upgrade card on top of the LevCo CPU board features SCSI with a rear SCSI port installed
• 1x 400K floppy drive, motor self-tests but drive was unable to boot a 400K test floppy
• Battery was removed by a previous owner, please note battery calcification in the battery bay
• VintageGrey C13 power cord
• Beigetenkey-less Apple keyboard and original Apple & CONDITION, READ THIS SECTION: This 128K is in overall good exterior shape with yellowed case but no cracks or signs of abuse. The CRT also appears clean.
• The system was tested to power on
• The screen allows brightness adjustment and does not have any coil whine, H/V-sync waviness, or signs of failure
• The Mac will sometimes power on with a distorted chime, sometimes power on with a clean chime, and sometimes display a Sad Mac, potentially a RIFA cap issue or an issue with the 3rd party CPU/RAM card
• Mac would not boot from internal floppy, and would also not boot from a known-good external floppy
• ONE of the 5 case screws is missing (this unit has all-identical black screws)
• No further testing was This Mac is offered as a project, sold as \" restoration work required\" with a promise that you will need a willingness to undertake electronics projects to repair or maintain components like the PSU, CRT board, and floppy as well as the unique and proprietary 3rd party upgrade card. While this should be a very straight forward project, working with a soldering iron and working around a CRT throwback require care and it is the buyer\'s responsibility to undertake this unit\'s restoration.
