ABOUT: For your consideration is a second generation Power Macintosh, the PowerMac 7600/AV with its RCA audio/video capture abilities. This unit is offered in as-found condition and has many needs on the road to restoration. This system has been tested to chime, power on, display video, and boot from a restore CD and is offered to a vintage Mac enthusiast for parts or restoration!
Due to the vintage nature of this Mac, it is offered as an enthusiast project, for retro tech enthusiast restoration, with the idea that there will be multiple hurdles to overcome, including floppy drive rebuild and logic board + power supply, re-capping of all the 30 year old electrolytic 1996-era Power Macintosh 7600/132 AV
• 132mhz PowerPC 604 CPU on quick-swap slot
• 168-pin 5V RAM DIMMs, 80mb installed
• 2 of the available 4 VRAM sockets are populated
• NO HARD DRIVE
• 1.44mb Superdrive floppy drive installed(untested)
• 6x Apple SCSI CD-ROM installed (tested working)
• Apple Keyboard II and Mouse II are included with a compatible black S-Video cable in place of the original ADB cable
NOTE: Macs of this era have DB-15 double row video output for old Mac-specific monitors. You will need a VGA adapter to use this Mac with a modern LCD, readily available on & CONDITION: This PowerMac has a few signs of wear and age, including a missing plastic front power button and a few scuffs to the outer chassis. Despite that, this unit is in overall better than average condition considering how fragile this generation of case plastics are. The internal plastic PCI cover is intact, as are both internal kickstands. Due to the fragility of this era Mac, discretion is advised when opening this unit for upgrade. This Mac will ship HEAVILY padded.
This Mac was tested to power on, chime, and power on. It was tested to boot from the internal CD-ROM to a burned copy of MacOS 8, This Mac is considered A BAREBONES ASIS PROJECT and is being offered to an enthusiast in as-described condition with no guarantee of longevity. This unit is promised to have frustrating speed bumps and weird quirks during your ownership and an adventurous spirit is advised when delving into classic Macs!
