The pair of E5-2650 v2 CPUs allowed me to run the 1866 MHz DRAM on my system at the rated speed, versus the original E5-2650 CPUs which can only run the DRAM at 1333 MHz. I learned about changing the "server profile" from another person's post, and with the help of these new CPUs I was able to increase the Geekbench linux single thread score from 555 to 800. The multi-thread score increased from 6945 to 10848. Not all of this can be attributed solely to the CPU upgrade, but the system performance tuning was made possible by using features on the new CPUs. For the cost, in my situation, this CPU upgrade was worth it.

Crazy you can buy a $1200 chip for this cheap now a days. Using it in an Unraid server and it’s working wonderfully for VMs, dockers, file sharing and media serving
