Hi,

i need some help. I want to remaster KNOPPIX 3.7 with the remaster_0.1-6.tar.gz script but every changes i made to /etc/network/interfaces will be lost after i choose "2 create compressed fs" at the menu.

The system i use to remaster has only one interface (eth0) which gets its ip from the dhcp. The /mnt/hda2/remaster/etc/network/interfaces config file looks like:

# /etc/network/interfaces -- configuration file for ifup(8), ifdown(8)

# The loopback interface
# automatically added when upgrading
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

The CD has to run on a server with 2 interfaces. I tried to configure the IPs (and some static routes) in that file:

auto lo eth0 eth1
iface lo inet loopback

iface eth0 inet static
address 10.250.240.4
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 10.250.240.0
broadcast 10.250.240.255
up route add -net 10.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 gw 10.250.240.1 eth0

iface eth1 inet static
address 192.168.13.5
netmask 255.255.255.248
network 192.168.13.0
broadcast 192.168.13.7
gateway 192.168.13.1
up route add -net 10.205.11.148 netmask 255.255.255.255 gw 192.168.13.1 eth1
up route add -net 10.205.11.149 netmask 255.255.255.255 gw 192.168.13.1 eth1

But after i choose the 2nd menu item, the interface file is overwritten with the first one above (default?)!
All other config files stay untouched.
Do anyone see an error? Why do the remaster script throw my settings away?

Thx for help!

HA, i found the first Problem.

The remastering script "knoppix-remaster" calls the script "Knoppix-3.4-mkcompressed" in the chang root enviroment.
Look at this script:

...snip...
cat >/etc/network/interfaces <<EOT
# /etc/network/interfaces -- configuration file for ifup(8), ifdown(8)

# The loopback interface
# automatically added when upgrading
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

EOT

cat >/etc/dhcpc/resolv.conf <<EOT
# Insert nameservers here
# nameserver 127.0.0.1
EOT
...snip...

tstststs :x

Now i have another problem:
The remastered CD doesnt take my config in /etc/network/interfaces (see above)!
Knoppix starts only eth0 and tries to get a dhcp server there?!
What are my mistakes?

Thanx,
