hi, i wanted to know if it is possible throuth remastering the knoppix livecd to, enable user authentication in this very case nis (or ldap) and to mount the user's homedir via network, the idea is the user logins via nis and them knoppix would mount his homedir and load his settings without any user input(just the login).
Login can be text mode or graphical.
i know i can remaster the livecd and add nis suport installing the packages and editing some files, and probably get text mode user authentication installing agetty and editing inittab probably, getting kdm to work would be just replace the command that starts X to kdm instead i presume. but iam clueless about how to get network homedir working. any help would be apreciated thanks.
EDIT : I have found some info about this here http://cork.linux.ie/article.php?story=20030124163536182 and a book from o'relly http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/nfs2/
