I burned a few backup dvds which can be read fine in knoppix but not in windows. The filenames are changed, I guess most of you know this.

I mainly use windows, so I was wondering if there was a way to read those dvds with proper filenames in windows.

For example, I have this program called MacDrive which allows you to read mac formatted drives (like an iPod) in windows; I was wondering if there was any program like this.

Thanks

Try using joliet and disable rockridge.

You mean that when I burn dvds with knoppix I should choose to burn with joliet? Joliet is the long filename system right?

How come Knoppix can read the dvds fine and with long filenames but not windows?

Isn't there a program I can use to read the dvds differently?

Joliet is probably needed since iirc microsoft created that extension. Windows should have rockridge support, but surprisingly microsofts own works better.
You could try using both though http://www-03.ibm.com/support/techdocs/atsmastr.nsf/WebIndex/TD102020
