I just posted a proposal (http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=112960#112960) in the Ideas sub-forum, which I believe could obviate the need for certain remastering operations. I'm posting the link over here in order to induce comments and visibility, w/ the hope that it might even become part of the next revision of Knoppix. Maybe others will find it as novel as I do.
