Hi,

I installed knoppix adriane 6.2. Reason : scanning and cleaning my windows xp prof (that will not run anymore because of a virus in the bootsector).

I used clamav : but this only scan for viruses and do not clean them.

I there a good viruscleaner I can use in Knoppix that clean viruses on windows?

thanks

Since Knoppix can not safely write to the NTFS file system, I would very strongly suggest not "cleaning" any viruses with Knoppix.

One fantastic tool for removing Windows viruses is the Debian net-install disk. Just tell it to install Debian and to use all available hard disk space, and all of you windows viruses will be quickly removed ;-)

thanks for the answer.

I looked for the debian netinstall.
If I install it I hope it will not remove my windows?
And how the viruses will be removed? Do I not need to run a virus cleaner?

I don't really understand how it will work and I don't find some howto on the internet.

Yes, it will remove Windows. And there is no reason to believe that Debian could safely write to NTFS any more than Knoppix can.

Ok then it is no option for me.
Than I can format my drive and start from the beginning.
