1. No graphical desktop SOLVED / Solution > gave up of the adriane CD and used the knoppix only CD after finding it as per the solution to the problem 3 below.
First downloaded the 6.2 iso CD with Adriane (guess what, you can only get one if it has adriane). Then, if a graphical application or the lxde desktop is chosen, a fatal error occurs and I'm requested to contact the X bla bla lbla.org
At this point the speaker stays mute (is it voice impaired?). I wonder what a visually impaired would do at this point, this is, when an error occur, widhout knowing what is happening.
I tryied to go back to the main menu or even to the menu above but no numerical option is available for that. By clicking and pressing everything I found that Esc does it. Bad dog, bad dog.
Than I installed it on the HD, thinking that by doing it I would have access to the graphical desktop. The automatic installer was fine but at some point the speaker doesn't transmit any decision information to the user, only voices the Yes(s) and No(s). Bad dog, bad dog.
After the installation, rebooting didn't bring anything new. No graphical interface again. This dog is bad.
2. No installation / SOLVED / Solution > got a magnifier, guessed the instructions and set up a HD with 12 GB. instead of the default Debian-s 8 GB, in VirtualBox. The CD also installed flawlessly and knoppix is now the faster debian I m running. Its even faster than xubuntu, lubuntu and other buntus.
Grabbed the huge 6.2 english Iso DVD. Ran it and tryied to install it on the HD. The automatic installer simply didn't work. Miserable dog. Went for Gparted, created partitions but those were never good enough for instalation. Came on, is this a joke?
3. Why do we all need to have adriane? PROBLEM SOLVED
SOLUTION
By going back to the downloads mirror sites I discovered that the ISO CD's Images of the version 6.2 were "cleverly" listed as follows, breaking any logic:
Version 6.2 with Adriianne 18-11-2009
Version 6.01 with and without Adriane 10-02-2009
Version 6.2 without Adriane 18-11-2009
In fact, you do need to be a very patient person and open minded to try to find out what was wrong.
PROBLEM WAS:
Tryied to find a CD or a DVD without adriane, as listed in one of the pages of the org site. This is the list provided in the page:
file name content
KNOPPIX_versionCD-date-DE.iso KNOPPIX, CD-Version, default language german, ISOfile format
KNOPPIX_versionDVD-date-DE.iso KNOPPIX, DVD-Version, default language german, ISOfile format
KNOPPIX_versionCD-date-EN.iso KNOPPIX, CD-Version, default language english, ISOfile format
KNOPPIX_versionDVD-date-EN.iso KNOPPIX, DVD-Version, default language english, ISOfile format
KNOPPIX-ADRIANE_versionCD-Datum-DE.iso KNOPPIX, CD-Version with automatic start of ADRIANE, default language german, ISOfile format
KNOPPIX-ADRIANE_versionCD-date-EN.iso KNOPPIX, CD-Version with automatic start of ADRIANE, default language english, ISOfile format
*.iso.md5 checksum file (MD5) for md5sum for checking CD-image after download
*.iso.sha1 checksum file (SHA1) for sha1sum for checking CD-image after download
*.iso.*.asc Digital signature for verifying authenticity of checksum files and images after download
Tryed 6 mirrors and none of them was providing a 6.2 knoppix CD or DVD without adriane as listed above. I'm going to shoot this dog.
