Regarding font installation

Hi Guyz

I am trying to install Urdu font Nastaliq in Knoppix ... the procedure follows as go to Kde startup menu Settings-> Control centre -> system administrator -> font installer -> adminstrator mode

1-Now when I login as normal user it asks me for root password ... which i don't know

2-when i login using knoppix single and startx ... and follow the same procedure it shows up with this error "File does not exist and folder is not writtable"

currently i am using version 3.3
Can u tell is this problem version specific or Knoppix specific or this ain't a problem and I am doing smthing wrong ... i've tested this both on CD and hard-disk ????

afaik , kde font tool has collected the selected fonts and put the paths of fonts to a file to home directory as .font_blah_blah and calls that fonts everytime so if you run kde font tool as root these font settings are not accessible for other users.
if the font is truetype font, copying the font to /usr/share/fonts/truetype/commercial and linking it to /usr/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType may help you to use this font for all users who is running X (fix the chmod value if needed)
