then on next boot trying fromhd=/dev/hda1 i get this bluddy shell

You may be having problems because the tohd & the config are on the same partition. Knoppix locks the partition which has the PMI install on it.
ok will try it on next boot
no is not the pb think it isn't a knoppix pb sems to be in diskdrive bios somewher if i boot whith grub get a kybord loop (caps lock >scroll lock) and kernelpanic can not creat vfs
but fine it works tohd so on startup needs 4 minits it's ok.
made a windo$ install for my kids
fromhd works whith vfat for me now
is it a reiserfs problem :?:
