HTTP-FUSE(5MB) CD-ROM enables to use contents of DVD-KNOPPIX
We released HTTP-FUSE KNOPPIX 4.0.
http://unit.aist.go.jp/itri/knoppix/.../index-en.html
HTTP-FUSE-KNOPPIX-4.0 is only 5MB CD image and enables us to use full contents of DVD KNOPPIX 4.0.
We don't need to download 3.8GB iso image at one time and burn DVD.

# Unfortunately HTTP servers for HTTP-FUSE-KNOPPIX-4.0 exist in Japan.
# The long network delay from US or EU makes boot slow.
# HTTP-FUSE-KNOPPIX can connect P2P "coral" proxy. We hope P2P Proxy works well.
We estimate the performance. If there is no network delay, HTTP-FUSE KNOPPIX boot is faster than DVD KNOPPIX.
Long network delay (We assumed 200msec between US&EU and Japan) makes slow boot.
To hide the network delay we add DownloadAhead function(DL-FULL and DL-2500) which prefetches necessary data beforehand.
The results of boot time, amount of download data, and throughput are following graphs.
BOOT TIME of HTTP FUSE KNOPPIX (DVD-BOOT TIME 295sec)
at NO DELAY
# DL-FULL 97sec
# DL-2500 98sec
# NON-DL 113sec
at 200msec DELAY
# DL-FULL 437sec
# DL-2500 644sec
# NON-DL 1413sec
