Bug 14 from 3.9 still present in 4.01 DVD

Did the install from DVD to HD, and things are generally running well. Tried to bring up the kernel to see if I could get it to recognize my internal sound (Intel Realtek HD Audio) on my Compaq Presario SR1430NX (specs at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...&lang=en&cc=us).

Anyway, when I went to run the make, I got the error mentioned in this bug. Is there a fix or workaround? I didn't see anything on the wiki page, but perhaps it's somewhere else?
