I have tried all of the cheat codes (knoppix screen=1024x768, fb1024x768, xmodule=i810 | vesa | etc., and just about everything else). I have tried using knoppix 4 and 5. I cannot get my Gateway 400SP (which boots Windows XP nicely at 1024x768) to give me anything higher than 800x600. Any advice out there?
Strange... I have the same card and have no problems.
It could actually be related to the modes and refresh rates that being detected from your monitor.
Sorry I cant be more help but hopefully this will point you in the right direction.
*** EDIT: The difference in my setup and yours is probably that yours is a Laptop ****
