LiveDistro functionality

Hi every body,
Can any one help me finding a good reference on how the Knoppix LiveDistro functionality is. The way it is loaded to the RAM, what if the ram does not have enough space, which part has its control in hand, the way different OS management problems ,which are specific for this type of operating systems, are handled and... My main concentration is on its operating system’s aspect.
