Is there a way to sleep an external HD w K6 < redo w hdpa

Hdparm is gone from K6 CD; short of a remaster with hdparm, is there any way to tell
an external HD to standby so I can unplug it w/o the wear & tear?

scsitools is gone also, so scsi-spin is not available either.
