Hello
I maked a customed CD (I did read the how-to in http://www.stirnimann.com/mystuff/doc/knoppix.txt)
now everytime I want to boot from the CD I get :
Kernel panic : no init found. try passing init= option to kernel
I didn't make any change to the kernel image !!!!
what is the wrong !!!
BTW : I tryed to put init=/etc/init but it does't work !!!
In case this will help , everytime when I boot from the cd (before kernel panic) I get :

I had the same problem.. check if your KNOPPIX file on the cd is really ~680 mb and not 0 bytes.
If you are running debian unstable downgrade the package containing mkswap to testing, it has a bug and won't create your swap file correctly. This leads to ram shortage and the KNOPPIX file is not created.
my KNOPPIX size is 588434477 (see above)
I just removed openoffice-en-de and add openoffice-1.1rc1
and I added kde-i18n-ar and some arabic fonts
btw I didn't use mkswap , do I have to do it ???

please help me we want to make more than 2000 CDs from KNOPPIX in GITIX for FREE
I must finish from the cd this week or my manager will copy RedHat :(

Could you please explain in a little more detail how you fixed the problem? I have the exact same problem. Everything was fine untill I reinstalled windows and redhat.
It's ok, I found the solution.
Typing 'knoppix init=/etc/init' solved the problem. The CD was fine. I think this solution will be relevant to most people who encounter the problem.

i have a the same problem, but i get the error message during the first bott after hd installation
error message:
