fdisk, cfdisk and qtparted are tools that could be used as far as i know.
Go here - http://www.sysresccd.org/ - and download the rescue disk .iso
You will find "qtparted" to partition your hard drive, as ewll as many other programs to use if you crash your HD. :)
All this on a stand-alone CD, just drop into your CD drive and turn on your confuser (oops, I ment "Computer)!!!

I'm using an IBM Thinkpad R30. Every time I install Knoppix I just boot from CD and type "knx-hdinstall" in a console. The install script also gives you options on how you'd like your partitions set up.
thanks i need to install knoppix on my hdd! i will try that.
ok, it says permission denied, any suggestions.
Yeh go into root shell from knoppix menu at the bottom of the screen then type the command. Also does that partion your hd so you have your current windose OS still on it aswell?
yes i have 3 partitions on my hdd. one has xp, the other will have knopix, and the other has my documents. thanksss
If you're dedicating a whole HD to knoppix, it's best to wipe all the partitions off it completely with some tool, like fdisk, cfdisk, Darik's Boot and Nuke. I haven't had much success with Qt-parted.... I delete one partition and the other ones wouldn't come off!
Reboot Knoppix from CD again, and then proceed with the install properly.
Hey Buddy ,If U dont mind try this Procedure
