booting knoppix on my inspiron 5150

I tried booting from CD on my Dell Inspiron 5150, and it only works if i use the "knoppix nosmp" cheat. it begins loading, but fails a bunch of tests, it keeps going until it gets to "Automounter started for: floppy cdrom." Then on the next line it says "init: panic: segmentation violation at 0x804ec92! sleeping for 30 seconds." If i wait, it just continues with the same error.

I have a 3GHz processor
30GB Hard Drive
512 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200

I am going to try upgrading my BIOS, then Ill try without the wireless card, but in the meantime, any help would be great. Thanks.

ok i did the BIOS update and still a no go. i removed my Linksys Wireless card, and maybe the problem is with the Broadcom 440x 10/100. Anyone know anything about this.
