Dunno about nForce, but I get a kernel panic trying to boot the 2.6 kernel on my Thinkpad 600.
I downloaded the "...aa6f" version myself. Should I be concerned and trying to fing the "...ae2b" version instead? This seems very odd. :?Quote:

Thing is, I have one of these new fangled ASUS motherboards which is currently has both a SCSI card and is using the built in SATA RAID (two drives).
Booting in with the 2.4 kernel is fine, except that while my system detects my Creative Audigy 2 card, there is NO SOUND.
Trying to boot in with the 2.6 kernel, first off the SCSI detection tries going for the megaraid.o, then has a segmentation fault and then crashes (Much like some of the others have complained of). Now, even when I issue "knoppix noscsi", it skips SCSI detection and goes for the RAID driver. However, when It gets to setting /etc/fstab.... the installer crahes.
I'm pretty sure the problem lies within the RAID on my mobo. In the Linux kernel, these ASUS mobos with RAID really don't get handled well, if at all, and especially if they are formatted for use under Windows.
Similarly, Fedora doesn't work on my system either thanks to the Sil driver. Alan Cox calls these things "winraid" and as such, Linux doesn't support them yet (if at all).
I just wish there was an option to skip detection of the sata RAID.
I just downloaded the latest Knoppix version (...ae2b) from ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/knoppix/ which is a Knoppix mirror.Quote:

I think the mirrors are getting populated with this version.
My guess is that the 49a62cdac7a3afcee0d2d47ea17daa6f one is probably an early release candidate (or Klaus noticed a mistake, and fixed it in the later one). So, we probably do want the 8e9cd4d310ad8381d1ec3326c6caae2b one (the later one), just in case. It appears to be made around a day later than the earlier one. However, I have no idea as to what the differences are.Quote:

It's obvious why the first file changed, but I don't know what the other two files do.
dont worry, only the help page in the isolinux bootloader/cheat-code screen has been modified. the text still showed knoppix 3.3.
be sure to read the knoppix mailinglists to get max information
http://mailman.linuxtag.org/pipermai...ay/005132.html
if u got the first knoppix 3.4 iso from some days ago, thats just fine, nothing to worry about.
no need for more net traffic congestion :)
thats also why the isolinux files f2 and f3 are different like madoka said before.
Whats up with the knoppix.com sight. It has been down for days. Any ideas as to when it might be coming back up.
