no im british lol i can get a decent hard drive of ebay thats bigger for the laptop for about £25 so it would maybe work out less hassle for a little more expense what do you think?

If you can install Windows on a new hard drive then you should certainly be able to install it on the existing drive, unless the drive is physically broken. I don't see how it should be any simpler to install to a new hard drive than an existing drive. I'm not at all clear what your problems really are, or even if you can get Knoppix to boot on that system (which would seem far simpler than connecting across a network).Quote:
