The linux kernel is the same as on the Knoppix cd.
The various kernel modules/drivers and tools I have added in the the minirt_host.gz,
(the latest version of my boot ramdisk) are all comming from the Knoppix ISO cd.
The modified linuxrc boot script file can easily be extracted from the minirtr_host.gz file
using the following command line "mount -o loop minirt_host dir" (first gunzip the minirt_host.gz file)

The Knoppix 4.02 cd and dvd release have a typo bug in the linuxrc boot script
which prevent the USB port to work in the USB2 high speed mode.
Only the USB1 compatible mode was enabled having about 1MB/Sec
of transfert rate instead of the +20MB/Sec as expected.
This is really ennoying, especially when booting Knoppix
from the ISO cd image located on a USB dongle or an external USB HDD.

Just a little clarification, since it looks like I intoduced some confusion about the added features of my alternate boot ramdisks.
The minirt_usb2.gz boot ramdisk includes a few features not available from the minirt.gz off the cd.
Firts, it will allow you to boot Knoppix from an ISO file located on fat12/16/32, ext2/3 or reiser partition (ntfs and reiser added).
In case of a wrong device name, the boot script will automatically search for an other working device with the same directory path,
boot from it, and suggest you to update your kernel boot command line with the working device. (bootfrom=)
Then, it will allow you to change the Knoppix hostname of the machine for a fixed or dynamic hostname (network_hw_address or time)
Finally it includes a bug fix for using the USB2.0 kernel module on USB2.0 hardware (instead of always using the slow USB1 kernel module)
which allows to boot way faster from a high speed USB disk or dongle.
I have changed the name of the boot ramdisks every time I have added a new features, which may be a little confusing,
but in fact, all the previous added features have always been and still are included in the new update.
As an example, the minirt_usb2.gz adds usb2 support to the previous iso boot, ntfs, reiser, auto search, and hostname features.

Hi. I'm trying to help a guy in the kanotix forum http://kanotix.com/index.php?name=PN...&p=85884#85884 doing a Kanotix Win PMI and the link for the grldr is broken. Glazing this thread I found it at http://s94002264.onlinehome.us/grub/grldr however, that link downloads a grldr with 143 kb size. The one I have currently is 172kb with date Aug 9/05. Is the 143 kb the current one?

This should solve the issue found in the knoppix-autoconfig script
which was preventing the use of an ext2 persistent home directory.

I just realize that in fact, the boot ramdisk (minirt file) can be used to patch
almost everything you need, preventing the need to remaster the 700MB Knoppix file to fix a bug !
So no more need to redownload 700MB of data to fix a bug requiring only a couple of bytes to be changed.
