We are currently preapring the new website. Please stay tuned until Software Freedom Day, 28 August, 2004.
Hello,
the new website ist there, but where is the german forum gone?
It's a great pity isn't it?
Bye
Karl
agree! I would really like to see the german forum back - it was an excellent source of firsthand information.
Wolfgang
Quite strange that there was/is no word about what happened/is to happen with the German forum. On Knopper's page it's still linked although it's gone for quite a long time now :(
Here's the last relevant message I see posted on the mailing list: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux...n.knoppix/3997. Hopefully someone's looking into it. Is that mailing list the same you're referring to as a forum in this very thread?
Nope. There was a German forum just as this one. It was hosted at www.linuxtag.org/forum
Hi,
I think I also belong to this 'special community' here, because I don't know anything concerning
www.linuxtag.org/forum
too ! :(

A german linux-beginners-forum is here (not knoppix-centric):
http://www.linuxeinsteiger.info/
I can more or less speak only for myself, but I'd assume others feel the same. We're not looking for a German linux/knoppix forum. We were part of the official one that has simply disappeared. There were quite some regulars who I think are now missing the good community there.
Hello,
I think it's time to do something...
at http://www.linuxtag.org/2005/linuxta...kt/kontakt.php
are telefone numbers and email addresses. I will try to
get in contact with them...
The question is: What do we want?
- get back the german knoppix forum?
- change to the english forum?
- change to kanotix and the german kanotix forum?
- change to microsoft windows xp ;-)
Bye
Karl
I vote for getting it back - best from a backup - there's a lot of good stuff in there which I used to search regularily....Quote:

Oliver Zendel from linuxtag.org answered to me that
Klaus Knopper himself (together with Martin Oehler) is
responsible for installing the forum on the new linuxtag
server and that they didn't find the time yet to (re)activate
the forum.
Oliver Zendel also forwarded my request to Klaus Knopper
and Martin Oehler so I think it makes sense to wait a view
days. May be they reply.
> I vote for getting it back
Wolfgang, I also think that should be the first priority.
Nevertheless: Writing here in the english forum is a
welcome opportunity to apply my #?*+% english skills :-)

Karl
Good to see that there is at least some news ;)
As for myself, I would simply want to just get the old forum back with all its contents and the users we had.
Would it be possible for you to have it here? Seems to me that it should be possible to create a German language division. Of course, it's not my site, so I'm not the person to ask, but it wouldn't bother me to have it together, with a German section and an English section.

May be, that the german forum - 6400 users and their contributions of several years - provide a handicap for this english forum, but I don't know the performance of this server really ...

No answer from Klaus Knopper or Martin Oehler until now. :-(

I think before we discuss alternatives it is necessary to
get a *clear* statement from Klaus Knopper or Martin Oehler
what their plans are related to www.linuxtag.org/forum.
Unfortunately I don't have a direct connection to Klaus Knopper
or Martin Oehler. So is here someone who has and who would
be so nice to ask them?

I have started another attempt to get in contact with them...

diesen Threat hochhalten, damit was geschieht !

<news:de.comp.unix.linux.misc>
<news:de.comp.unix.linux.moderated>
Hello,

Again no answer from Klaus Knopper or Martin Oehler
until now. :-(
So I think it makes no sense to wait any longer.
I will start to try to setup a new forum (with phpbb).
I have a server but not much knowledge about
debian/apache/mysql/phpbb. Therefore competent
help is very welcomed.

I have asked eadz, the webmaster, and he would be willing to set up a temporary German forum on this site until the official German forum comes back online (if ever).
I have added a German Forum to this forum, while the LinuxTag ones are down.
Hello,

That is very nice, thank you. :-)

Why not *forever*?
By the way: My attempt to setup a new forum
(with phpbb) on my server looks more like a
desaster than a bulletin board at the moment. ;-)
I think it would be very helpful to rebuild
the german forum structure with foren
like "Anwendungen", "Hardware", "Netzwerk"
and so on. Is it possible?
Also do you need/want help by the people
who were moderators at the german linuxtag
knoppix forum?

Karl

Moderatoren hier einfinden. Die muessten doch
genaueres dazu sagen koennen...
erinnern: Hardware, Vernetzung, Anwendungsprogramme.

Hi,
for me the problem in not (where/how/who) to rebuild the forum, my problem is the "lost" content. To solve this, it's nessesary to get in contact to the "old forum", but how? Knoppix is Klaus baby, but after this long time without a single line of statement for him, i don't like how he treats it.
----
Hallo,
