uhm - have you tried with the cheat code nodma when you boot the laptop?
i have an interesting situation. i have been using Knoppix on my Gateway laptop at home and Dell desktop at work. alright, so i hear about the 3.4 release of Knoppix, i burn an .iso and try it out. on the Dell, it works fine: i am muy impressed (the KDE is a lot faster and looks cleaner..kickass).
the thing is, when i boot with 3.4 on the laptop, it seems to no be able to find my CD drive. keep in mind that the previous version of Knoppix works fine. it will boot ok, and start to run the kernel i guess (yes, i am a lame n00b). anyway it gets to:
it then hangs and does nothing. i guess my question is: am i doing something wrong? is there a driver for the CD player in my laptop that the old Knoppix could find but that 3.4 can't? i think the .iso is fine since it worked on the Dell at work without a flaw.Code:enabling DMA acceleration for: hdc [Samsung CD-ROM SN-124 looking for cdrom in: /dev/scd0
so anyway...anyone have any suggestions?
