My monitor shuts down just as the x session opens. That is the last message I can see just before the message that the monitor will shutdown comes.

Workaround was to use "fb1280x1024" at boot. Seems that ver3.4 is still using an outdated "savage_drv.o" driver. I am using an inbuilt s3 savage pro
km266 vedio card.

This problem has since been addressed in other distros notably mandrake 10 and lindows.

I hope the next knoppix will solve this.
