I can't seem to get a machine booted with Knoppix v3.4 and a machine with W2k to connect together with a X-over cable.

How and what do I configure for IPs and subnet masks, etc on both machines to get them to talk. Basically, I want to transfer files from the Knoppix machine to the W2K machine. (data rescue).

I'm a newbie, be gentle pls.
