problem: kppp fails to work after a couple of reboots may be 1...may be 5...varies

for some reason, initially after install, kppp works fine after kppp setup, then cant access modem after rebooting. Even being a member of dip and dialout, which is required for ppp, connection to respective ttyS* is refused.

The fix: ttyS* permissions become forbidden, simply give yourself permission to use respective ttyS* device. Have not had a problem since.

maybe someone with more knowledge could shed some light on this
