Knoppix running MS office demo CD

I just finished remastering 3.4 to include MS office and Lotus notes using Crossover office. My idea is to create this demo CD for a small group of ppl in my office who have never used Linux. MS office is included purely because I dont want to worry about little office format incompatibilities yet.

Here is the issue:
The fake windows environment [MS office, Lotus notes, windows system files] thus created uses about 280 MB of disk space. In my config it sits in the home drive. This will not work across some other user's desktop because not all of them have as much RAM [512 MB] as i do.

Just wondering if there is a way to either reduce the size of fake windows environment or make it sit on the read only file system.

maybe try using morphix and let translunancy deal with on-the-fly changes

Could you please elaborate on that, as to how does Morphix handle such on the fly changes.

You will have to remove software from Knooppix so that your dotwine/fakewindows fits on the CD. I didn't test yet whether cxoffice/Office runs read-only, though.

Off topic: Isn't it ironic that Word in cxoffice boots about five times faster than native OpenOffice.org on the same Knoppix machine?

Yes and unfortunate as well. Koffice/Kword is certainly getting much better and it's fast too. Unfortunately it's been axed from Knoppix, but it's on my hd.

I just did a simple test by making whole of cxoffice folder read only, although the office still works, when I try to save any files, it does not work. Looks like certain folder in fake windows need to be read write.

Can anybody point me to which folders/files need to be read write, and how that can be done in knoppix. Like how to let some files sit on CDROM and copy others (needing rw permissions) to home.
