bsod?

I got a cd from someone on Ebay of Knoppix 3.3. I was eager to try it and booted from it as instructed, got a few messages that flew by over the icon of the little Penguin then the screen just went dark
the BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH. I had no choice but hit the reset switch
any ideas?
System is tyan trinity s 1590 AMD K6-2 500, EVGA video 32 megs memory, 256 main board memory and audigy sound card

Anyway, looks like you need to play around with the cheatcodes. See here:

in the meantime, you might try

knoppix acpi=off .

What do you see? You'll see

boot:

just type in the cheatcode after it so it looks like

boot: knoppix apci=off
