OK, in knoppix-installer theres a step where yougive your PC a name, right? Well say you messed up and gave two PCs the same name and want to fix that without redoing the whole install process. How do you go about that?
TIA,
AJG

In Kanotix BH5, which is similar to a Debian-style install of Knoppix, the computer's name -- its "hostname" -- is set by the /etc/init.d/hostname.sh script, which is called in /etc/rcS.d. hostname.sh looks at /etc/hostname, a text file with one word in it, your computer's hostname.
So, you might try editing /etc/hostname. You'll probably also have to edit /etc/hosts.
Thanx, I knew there was some file like that, I just needed reminding!

Thanx, eco, I tried that on one PC and all's well. I then tried it on another and it didn't work. That's odd....
Thanx,
AJG
