how to install non-deb packages, e.g. tar.gz ?

how can non-deb packages(only tar.gz available) be "installed/
integrated" in a customed/personalized Knoppix CD?

Just like you normally would.

./configure && make && make install

Or however your particular app is built. Of course if you want .debs then you have to do it a bit differently.

apt-get install checkinstall
./configure && make && checkinstall

man checkinstall to see more of how this tool worls. It is quite easy to use.

Be sure to untar it first:

tar xvfz $filename.tgz
