so i install everything to clean partitions and boot it fine ... i also get the horrendously slow boot tho (sony vaio laptop) but it boots

then i remove stuff i dont need (like open office etc - no system files at all) ... then i install a couple of things like firefox etc ... i rebot and voila ... a text prompt saying fstab isnt right or something and i cant get jack working

i also noticed that it creates another device ive never seen before called initr.d.old or something

anybody got any clues?
