Orinoco problem, Have not seen any like this

Posted on Knoppix-std forums also, Using newest versions of both Knoppix-STD and regular Knoppix

Computer is a Compaq presario r3000 Laptop. I have a onboard ethernet and wireless card built in, the Realtek and the Broadcom listing I believe. The broadcom is a wireless G card so im not expecting that one to work, the ethernet port works fine on the wired router. I'm trying to get my Orinoco Gold (bought here ,top left http://stores.ebay.com/The-TechWirel...enameZl2QQtZkm ) card working in the PCMCIA slot.
No matter what distro I use (suse,knoppix,knoppix-std,mandrake) It doesn't want to work/light up at all, windows it works great.

When I boot knoppix this is the message I get

Afraid, I don't have an answer for you, but am very interested in finding out what the problem was.

In the meantime, I wanted to mention that your broadcom card might work with the prism54 driver that is included in Knoppix 3.4. May give you wireless until you resolve the orinoco issue.

For the R3000z, you need to modify your /etc/pcmcia/config.opts so that it
knows the correct memory and I/O location for the PCI1620 controller.
You can check my website for some hints:

but you basically need to add something like this to config.opts:

include port 0x3000-0x7fff, memory 0xe8100000-0xe97fffff

This is for an Athlon XP-M 3000+ processor: if you have an
Athlon 64 (Opteron), the memory is in a slightly diffferent place.

However, if you have a CardBus card, there is no one I know who has
gotten this to work, under any Linux distro.

The Broadcom WiFi works great with ndiswrapper, provided you are
using a 32-bit kernel. I'm using it right now.
