MySQL and Hard Disk..

I wonder if its possible to use mysql feature from a knoppix cd.. with hard disk program.. if we boot from cdrom we have access to hard disk.. so.. is its possible? and its possible to run linux application.. from harddisk ?

Why not use persistent home?
