Recover deleted files

Hi

I accidentally deleted some files on my Windows System.
Now I Try to recover them from the Knoppix CD
(because other tools I could install on windows may overwrite
the deleted files)

Is this possible? How?

What Windows File System? If it is VFAT or FAT32 you have some prospects. If it is NT, I am only aware of comercial tools.

There are recovery tools and procedures available for KNOPPIX to make an exact image of the harddrive which will give you protection agains overwriting something. trying to recover files. They require a network or an empty partition for extensive files.

For FAT32 There are boot floppies available which have undelete tools, or some stuff from old Norton
