Have you tried:

insmod scanner.o vendor=0xXXXX product=0xYYYY

your vendor =03f0
your product=0101

Finding the scanner.o module might be tricky, mine is located at :

/lib/modules/2.4.22-xfs/kernel/drivers/usb on my hard drive installaton.
