SAMBA-Client & W2k-Active-Directory

[ZMK]

Hello!

We have some older PCs and want to use them with Knoppix in an existing W2k-Network. We already can access the internet over the network, but we don´t know how to configure (samba?) Knoppix for using User-Profiles from the W2k-Active-Directory.

If there exists a FAQ for Knoppix-Configuration in Windows-Networks, where can we find it?

I am sorry that I can't help with samba specifics as I don't have the experience with ADS & samba. But according to SAMBA Documentation,

The documentation (and in particular the man pages) given on this web page are taken from the latest development version of Samba. If you are using an earlier version of Samba then you may find some differences.

The current Samba-3 release version of the Samba-HOWTO-Collection may be found here in PDF and HTML formats. Those wishing to obtain a hard copy of this document may do so by purchasing The Official Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference Guide.

The current Samba-3 release version of the Samba-Guide may be found here in PDF and HTML formats. Those wishing to obtain a hard copy (which includes a CDROM with all Example files) may do so by purchasing Samba-3 by Example.

That link up in that quote is in fact the electronic PDF copy of this book: Samba-3 by Example: Practical Exercises to Successful Deployment and amazon.com shows that other people found it to be a good book.

If you so choose, you can get the best prices on book via http://www.addall.com/
