The Mepis installer is proprietairy. I once added support and no one used it.

In fact it just does the copying - the last time the source code was open.

Knoppix goes another way with Hardwareprofiles and so on keeping most of the features of the Knoppix as a CD that just runs.

Knoppix also will stay dialog based as the frontend I build, as its so usable on the commandline too, which is especially important for blind people and text-only distributions.

If you write a _mature_ gui, I'll gladly include it as another frontend, but until someone does that, be happy with how it is.
