soundcard - Creative Live 5.1 no sound

Tried installing Alsa but received many errors across the board.
When I use the sound configuration utility I receive the following error message. The module used for your card emu10k1.0, is not currently in your module search path. Please verify that your kernel modules are installed correctly. Where are the Knoppix sound modules or kernels where I need to input information?

Anyone know of the easiest way to get sound working with the Soundblaster Creative Live 5.1 soundcard?

What errors would that be? I assume you've tried /etc/init.d/alsa-autoconfig as root.

The module used for your card emu10k1.0, is not currently in your module search path.

A couple of things:
1. make sure your root
2. make sure you have /lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o
(for the 2.4 kernel), or /lib/modules/2.6.5/kernel/sound/oss/emu10k1/emu10k1.ko (for the 2.6 kernel)

If you have them, run modprobe emu10k1 as root.
