    persistent home on captive ntfs

    Am trying to make persistent home on ntfs partition.

    Made the following changes:

    1. edit /etc/init.d/knoppix-autoconfig

    added the following :

    case "$fs" in *[Nn][Tt][Ff][Ss]*)
    # umount "$MYHOMEMOUNTPOINT"; echo " ${RED}ERROR: WON'T MOUNT NTFS FILESYSTEM ON $MYHOMEDEVICE READ/WRITE!"
    #break
    umount "$MYHOMEMOUNTPOINT"; mount -t captive-ntfs -o rw,uid=knoppix,gid=knoppix,umask=002 "$MYHOMEDEVICE" "$MYHOMEMOUNTPOINT"

    2. edited /usr/sbin/rebuildfstab

    added the following :
    case "$fstype" in
    ntfs) options="${options},rw,umask=000" ;;
    swap) options="defaults" ;;
    esac

    case "$fstype" in
    ntfs)
    [ -n "$user" ] && options="$options,uid=$user"
    [ -n "$group" ] && options="$options,gid=$group"
    echo "$ADDEDBYKNOPPIX"
    echo "$device $mountpoint captive-ntfs $options 0 0"
    ;;
    esac

    3. edited /usr/sbin/mkpersistenthome

    and commented out
    # mount | grep -q "$DIRECTORY.*ntfs" && { $DIALOG --cr-wrap --title "$TITLE1" --msgbox "$ERROR NTFS" 10 75; bailout; }

    4. Installed captive-ntfs support in chroot envirnment

    Finally when I boot the remastered CD, the captive-ntfs support is there. and am able to create persistenthome image on ntfs partition. But when rebooting, I get an error messages saying that /dev/hdax whiich is my ntfs partition, is already mounted.

    What am I missing?

    I followed the exact same procedure for captive-ntfs as it was for vfat in the script files.
    Still while booting up I get an error message.

    Here is a bigger portion of my knoppix-autoconfig:

    if [ -n "$MYHOMEDIR" ]; then
    if trymount "$MYHOMEDEVICE" "$MYHOMEMOUNTPOINT"; then
    [ -f "$MYHOMEMOUNTPOINT/knoppix.img" ] && MYHOMEDIR="$MYHOMEMOUNTPOINT/knoppix.img"
    while read device mountpoint fs relax; do
    case "$mountpoint" in *$MYHOMEMOUNTPOINT*)
    case "$fs" in *[Nn][Tt][Ff][Ss]*)
    # umount "$MYHOMEMOUNTPOINT"; echo " ${RED}ERROR: WON'T MOUNT NTFS FILESYSTEM ON $MYHOMEDEVICE READ/WRITE!"
    #break

    # Note: This currently won't work with encrypted partitions
    umount "$MYHOMEMOUNTPOINT"; mount -t captive-ntfs -o rw,uid=knoppix,gid=knoppix,umask=002 "$MYHOMEDEVICE" "$MYHOMEMOUNTPOINT"
    echo " ${RED}Mounting NTFS during autoconfig"
    ;;

    *[Ff][Aa][Tt]*)
    # Note: This currently won't work with encrypted partitions
    umount "$MYHOMEMOUNTPOINT"; mount -t vfat -o rw,uid=knoppix,gid=knoppix,umask=002 "$MYHOMEDEVICE" "$MYHOMEMOUNTPOINT"
    if [ ! -f "$MYHOMEDIR" ]; then
    echo " ${RED}WARNING: FAT32 is not a good filesystem option for /home/knoppix (missing socket/symlink support).${NORMAL}"
    echo " ${RED}WARNING: Better use an ext2 loopback file on this device, and boot with home=$MYHOMEDEVICE/knoppix.img.${NORMAL}"
    fi
    ;;
    esac
    if mount -o remount,rw "$MYHOMEMOUNTPOINT"; then
    echo -n " ${GREEN}Mounting ${YELLOW}$MYHOMEDIR${GREEN} as ${YELLOW}/home/knoppix${GREEN}... "
    if [ -f "$MYHOMEDIR" ]; then
    # It's a loopback file, mount it over the /home/knoppix directory
    trymount "$MYHOMEDIR" /home/knoppix
    RC="$?"
    [ "$RC" = "0" ] && ERROR="$(mount -o remount,rw /home/knoppix 2>&1)"
    RC="$?"
    else
    # Do a --bind mount
    ERROR="$(mount --bind "$MYHOMEDIR" /home/knoppix 2>&1)"
    RC="$?"
    fi
    [ "$RC" = "0" ] && echo "${GREEN}/home/knoppix mounted OK.${NORMAL}" || { echo "${RED}FAILED."; echo "$ERROR${NORMAL}"; }
    fi
    break
    ;;
    esac
    done <<EOT
    $(cat /proc/mounts)
    EOT
    fi
