I would think so. Assuming it's not already listed in lsmod you could check /etc/modules.conf for something like

usb-controller ehci-hcd

Of course if it's listed there it should load on boot.
If it's not in there you could do a:

# modprobe ehci-hcd

and conversely you can remove it like so:

# rmmod ehci-hcd
